An established IT company based in Midrand, Gauteng is seeking a highly skilled Tier 3 Infrastructure Engineer to join their team.

The Tier 3 Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for providing advanced technical support and expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex IT infrastructure systems. This includes managing high-level escalations, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing solutions related to network, server, and storage issues.

Responsibilities: 

• Provide L2-L3 administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of:
• Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, security appliances, and cloud security solutions
• Routing, switching, and wireless networking
• VMware vCenter and Hyper-V hypervisors
• Server hardware and components
• Storage infrastructure (SAN and vSAN)
• Linux and Windows systems administration
• Active Directory and identity management
• Cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud
• Monitor network and systems performance
• Manage and maintain security infrastructure and tools such as firewalls, vulnerability management systems, and SIEM
• Assist with IT and security-related projects, including backups, business continuity, and disaster recovery
• Proactively monitor IT system security and respond to security events and incidents
• Analyze and triage security events from SIEM tools
• Respond to and remediate security incidents and threats reported via service desk
• Handle requests related to network, security, and hypervisor infrastructure
• Assist with additional system administration tasks as needed
• Stay current on cybersecurity trends and provide recommendations for improvements and best practices
• Help design, implement, and manage endpoint security solutions such as anti-malware, antivirus, and mobile device management
• Automate repetitive tasks where possible
• Provide technical input for IT security standards aligned with industry frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2
• Develop and maintain security safeguards for the organization’s cloud environments
• Train and upskill junior staff

Requirements: 

• Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA, VMware certifications
• Linux, Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud certifications
• EC Council CEH, Security+, CISSP
• Fortinet FCP, FCSS
• 10+ years’ experience in network and security support across on-premise and cloud environments
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with:
• Network administration and support for firewalls, switches, wireless (Fortinet & Cisco), and VPN clients
• Windows Server 2012+ and Active Directory/DNS/DHCP administration
• Linux system administration
• Backup and recovery solutions
• Virtual environment administration and configuration
